The NWare Mobile and NWare Mobile Designer Edition iOS apps have been superseded by Kiosk2Go.

NWare Mobile should only be downloaded for projects that already use the application. It is no longer supported by Peavey for use with new projects.

The availability of NWare Mobile and NWare Mobile Designer Edition will cease on August 31st, 2015.

Hi all,

A new Kiosk2Go mobile application is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/kiosk2g … 17124?mt=8

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … p;hl=en_GB

This simple app will scan the network for MediaMatrix devices running Kiosk2Go, then present a list of all the Kiosk2Go blocks from all the available projects. You can tap a block name to start Kiosk2Go in a full screen window or in a browser.

Notes:

  • The MediaMatrix devices must run version 1.7.1 firmware or higher.

  • On Android, Kiosk2Go can only be launched full screen if you are running Android 4.4 or higher.

  • The auto log on feature currently only works with users that do not require a password

Please download and try out this app. I hope you find it useful.

As many people know, the NION series of products all use Linux on the host processor that provides the background management for the DSP's in the system. You may have heard something about the ShellShock vulnerability that existed in the BASH shell of Linux.

To be extremely clear: This vulnerability does exist in all NIONs with firmware 1.7.1 and earlier.

It has been fixed in all newer versions.

If you are using a NION with an older version of firmware and you would like to patch your system against this vulnerability, please download the attached file: NION_ShellShock_Patch.zip, unzip it, and follow the instructions in the ReadMe file for details on how to update your NION to remove the vulnerability. It is easy to do since it is just like updating the firmware in the NION.

Please post any questions or concerns about this subject in this thread.

Hi.

You can now download the Knowledge Center app from the Apple App Store and install it on your iOS device. Get it here:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/mediama … 18034?mt=8

The app includes the latest Knowledge Center help in a touch format, along with all the PDFs. It is completely self-contained, so you can browse the help and PDFs without an internet connection. It is only when you want to search this forum from the app that you need an internet connection.

Best regards,

Andy.

Hi everyone!

The Knowledge Center has now been updated for the 1.7.1 release on the website for both desktop and mobile.

If you are using the mobile/touch version, please read on...

If you have opened the Knowledge Center on your iPad or Android tablet before, it will have cached the old table of contents in localstorage. You need to clear localstorage and reload the Knowledge Center before the new contents will work properly.

Once the storage has been cleared, you will see a "Loading contents, please wait..." message the next time you run the help, and you're good to go.

Clearing localstorage in Chrome under Android

1. Tap the menu button.

2. Tap History.

3. Tap CLEAR BROWSING DATA (at the bottom of the screen).

4. Select the "Clear cookies, site data" check box.

5. Tap Clear.

Clearing localstorage in Safari under iOS

1. Open Settings.

2. Tap Safari.

3. Tap Clear Cookies and Data.

You should also delete and recreate any old shortcuts you have created using the "Add to Home Screen" feature.

Clearing localstorage in a webkit browser (Chrome/Safari/Opera) under Windows/OSX

1. Press CTRL+SHIFT+I on Windows or CMD+OPT+I on Mac to open the Dev Tools.

2. Click Console.

3. Type localStorage.clear();

Andy.

Hi.

You can now download the Knowledge Center Android app straight from the App Store and Google Play:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/mediama … 18034?mt=8

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … peavey.kcm

Andy.

Hi,

I've updated the Knowledge Center mobile help viewer for iOS and Android:

www.peaveyoxford.com/kcm.

This version introduces some new features:

- Adjustable split screen display for tablets, showing the contents and topic on the same page.

- Much more responsive swiping left and right between the contents, topic and search.

- Search the Peavey Oxford forum as well as the help and tap to read threads.

- Call right through to MediaMatrix Support from the Support button (via Skype or phone dialer).

- Drag favourites in the list to reorder them.

- Large images are automatically sized to fit the device screen width. (You can still tap to view an image in a scrollable window on phones.)

- Help explaining how to use the new viewer.

The new Android installer is available here (56MB): www.peaveyoxford.com/kcm/mmkcm.apk.

The installer now includes PDFs of all the manuals and datasheets, and will install them automatically on your device when you run the help for the first time.

If you uninstall the app, the PDFs will be removed from the device automatically.

Please post your feedback here.

Thanks for your time.

Andy.

Hi,

I've just made another small update. When you choose a language from the list, the Google Translate bar that normally appears at the top of the screen will no longer appear.

The problem with this toolbar was that it pushed everything on the screen downwards and prevented the scroll bars from working correctly. It was also quite annoying (!)

Andy.

Hi,

I have made a small change to the way the translation works, and I hope that you find it useful. All words that come directly from the NWare UI are now shown in English. This means that a procedure will describe how to accomplish a task in the selected language, but the names of buttons, menus, devices etc. that are from the user interface will not be translated, so that they match what the user actually sees on screen.

Please let me know if you find this useful.

Andy.

Hi,

The Knowledge Center help on the Peavey Oxford website now has a Select Language list on the toolbar. You can choose a language to instantly translate the content using Google Translate.

http://www.peaveyoxford.com/kc

You may need to press F5 when you first load the page to see the new list or clear the browser cache.

Notes:

  • The service uses machine translation, rather than human translation, so it is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. However, it should still be a useful feature.

  • The search does not accept words in languages other than English.

All feedback welcome.

Andy.

A lot of folks are pretty excited about NWare Mobile. This nifty APP allows NWare project control from an Apple iOS device. But the Android tablet and phone crowd feels left out.  sad  Well, don't despair. As with all things NWare, when ever anyone asks if the system can do something that hasn't been done before the answer is usually yes.  smile And in this case the answer to using an Android tablet with NWare also turns out to be yes. There is a way to use an Android tablet (or any tablet, computer or phone, for that matter) as a control surface for an NWare MediMatrix project. Pretty cool stuff....

Attached is a ZIP file that contains an ap note explaining how to do this as well as as two XML files that are used along with this technique. If you have any questions about this please let me know. It's actually pretty straightforward and the principles can be applied to many scenarios.

And keep in mind that the technique described in this note can be used without the Remote Dektop bit with any Kiosk PC or Kiosk PC compatible tablet or touchscreen running NWare Kiosk to provide a rich, dedicated full screen control surface or surfaces for any project.

Hi,

The Knowledge Center help for touch / mobile devices has just been updated for the 1.6.5 release.

As well as the new content, there's also an update to the layout: subheadings now have shading to make them clearer. This is especially noticeable in the release notes.

When testing, I've seen that the appearance of the subheadings may not be exactly right on some devices, so if you notice a problem on yours, please let me know.

All feedback welcome.

Andy.
