Adding a Dante card to a Nion6

Greetings

I currently have a nion6 that I've kept at 1.7.2 just for the sake of this experiment.

I've acquired a dante card from a cab4n unit, and would like to use one in my nion6 that had a cobranet card in it. I did make the swap physically, and although it seems to be working in the software, I cannot get any audio through the dante network.

The dante card I've installed is a:
DLM-1-8503 DLM-HU-032FP
Both numbers showing on the circuit board for reference. I'm hoping this card will work in the nion with some minor change needed that I don't know about.

I have a basic benchtop setup currently with my nion6 with dante card, a known good switch, and a different cab4n dante unit with 4-4 output cards.
Dante controller sees both and everything appears set up right, but it's not passing audio to the cab4dan. Nware sees the cab4 and shows the link connected green.

both dante cards in this network are model DLM dante firmware version 3.4.3.2 and hardware version 2.3.9 according to dante controller.

My intent is to use the nion6 with dante as my central processor at the school district I work at to monitor audio paths at various paging cabinets with dual input modules located at each sound closet.
Admittedly, I realize there's easier ways to do this, but I'm using what I have available, and 30 years of install experience. There's 7 schools in the district all connected via fiber and my own network infrastructure.

Thank you for any and all answers!

Nion 6 version:

bios Mar 31 2015 11:07:10
board D
cm1 3.4.3
cpu 405GP (200MHz, rev 1.69 (pvr 4011 0145))
dsp0 silicon: 2 processor: 10
dsp1 silicon: 2 processor: 10
dsp2 silicon: 2 processor: 10
dsp3 silicon: 2 processor: 10
dsp4 silicon: 2 processor: 10
dsp5 silicon: 2 processor: 10
firmware release_1.7.2
fpga    $Revision:: 4718 $ $Date:: 2006-04-18 18:09:02 +0100 (Tue, 18#$
kernel Linux version 2.4.17_mvl21-walnut (build@ey-nion-bld01) (gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release/MontaVista)) #1 Tue Mar 31 10:58:00 BST 2015
firmware_compatibility release 1.2.x - interop 001

XDAB Cables should be exclusively CAT 6 Shielded.

MediaMatrix pays a premium for what appears to be a simple patch cable, but it is not simple. Our cables are made to an exacting standard and then tested to ensure quality. The failure rate of our included XDAB cables is essentially 0%

Recently we have been asked if "better" cables could or should be used, the answer is no!

CAT 6 vs CAT 6a and CAT 8 have different amounts of twisting from pair to pair to better eliminate crosstalk, which means that differences between pair length comes into question. Because the XDAB is running MUCH faster than Ethernet data and is also clocked within the data pairs, timing (which is impacted by length) is critical.

Think about the length limitations that we have; Ethernet data will travel 100 meters while the XDAB can only go 3 meters on a single cable or 8.2 meters cumulative length.

CAT 6 shielded is exclusively recommended. And because few vendors do a good job of making patch cables, they should still be tested to standards before use!

Fergy

Nion 6 not booting anymore

Hello everyone, maybe someone has an idea on how to revive my Nion6. It is not booting up any more. Applying power to it lights up the display, the fans start, but after a couple of seconds, the display goes dark and the fans stop. As long as the IEC cord is applied, this continues over and over. I already tried replacing the power supply, but this did not do the trick either. Has anyone any ideas or is it time to look for something new?

In the attached picture, the display shows "normal bootup" for a brief period of time

Thanks

Jens

Is MediaMatrix dead?

So... being that i've been trying to get in touch with support for a week... and we havent seen ANY update on software in years... is it safe to assume Peavey is no longer pursuing MediaMatrix? Or has the entire staff jumped ship? Whats the deal?.. I work on a large campus with over 10 nion n6 and many more CAB devices and it's almost time to replace hardware. Should we look at other solutions? Not feeling warm and fuzzy about Peavey MediaMatrix anymore.

The nion nx reports the correct project name but gives "message: EXCEPTION ASSIGNING ROLE: TIMEOUT DURING CONNECT. COMPLETED = NO."

Any ideas?

I cant seem to figure this one out.

An auto start shortcut for nware2.0.0 into full screen kiosk mode.
Yes, I have done this a lot with 1.7.2 with much success.

I know this is probably not a good idea, but I was able to load the 1.7.2
kiosk ,set up a personality xml file shortcut etc...
It seemed to connect online, with the live nion ( v 2.0.0 ) project.
There were a couple of strange things that happened.
One was a restricted page link ( account ) that caused the kiosk page to show a
locked white screen. ( oh no ! )

Anyway, It would be great to get the 2.0.0 auto login short cut working.
Please let me know if i am missing something here. The documentation is not helping me.
( windows 10 machine)

Cheers

External Control User Log in

Hello, this might be a pretty noob question, but I can't for the life of me not find a way to get my tcp/ip client to log a user in onto my nion6.
I got one for a house that I'm renovating and wanted to develop some Crestron Control modules using RACT2. Crestron is my main job, so it should work somehow. I did a project in nWare 2.0.0, told my nion to use RACT2 on Port 1632 as default and deployed it, Everything seems good so far. To get my feet wet in RACT2, I did a connection with YAT, basically a terminal program. The connection is established, the help command works fine, but what user do I have to log in? Neither the superuser with no password or the defaultuser worked. I created a control user with basically all rights, but this one did not work either. So basically I'm just getting loginFailed or notLoggedIn. What am I missing? Firmware is the latest one 2.0
Thanks Jens
